Ubiquiti provides a suit of various applications to help assist with the management of their product line. UniFi is a shortened term because their goal is to Unify management of their products making everything easily accessible to both home users and businesses. These applications can be accessed from the cloud gateway itself, as well as from unifi.ui.com and selecting your gateway. A Ubiquiti account is required to be setup, this can be done either by creating one online, or as part of the setup of the Gateway product.
UniFi Network
This is the primary application, and the first one users will be seeing within their cloud gateway. Unifi also provides a mobile application both on the Google Play and Apple Stores, known as UniFi, this allows the basic management and configuration of the network. the Network application provides a method of creating networks, configuring firewall rules, and adopting new devices.
UniFi Protect
The Protect app is used for any security cameras used by the UniFi ecosystem. Once a camera is adopted you may use the protect app to monitor the live view and check recordings. Storage of the recordings will either be part of the NVR, Dream Machine, or the camera itself as an SD card. The protect app can customize recordings and have alerts setup based on various smart/AI detection features. This app also has a Google Play and Apple Store application.
UniFi Access
The Access app is used to configure Door control through doorbells, readers, and intercoms. Access is where you configure a users ability to open a door. Assigning NFC cards, or setting up passcodes. Controls can be paired with Security Cameras, through the access app. Once paired you can use Protect to setup detections, then use access to unlock it. This application is also available on the Google Play and Apple stores.
WiFiman
WiFiman is more used as a tool for checking signal and bandwidth. Although there is an option to use Teleport which creates a VPN to your network. WiFiman's strength is the ability to tell you which access point your connected to, and the quality of that signal. Signal Strength is measured in DB, and is a negative number. The result of being a negative number actually means the smaller number is the stronger signal, however Wireless has a wide variety of factors affecting signal so a normal range is between -40 and -70. The app is available in both Google Play and Apple stores.
Other Applications
Additional applications are part of the Ubiquiti platform, these include Talk for Voice over IP, and Connect, used for Enterprise of Things (displays, EV chargers, lighting and more), however these products are not currently offered by Micro Center. Identity is another platform part of Ubiquiti that helps manage users and assign access to doors, wireless, and even vpn access.
