This article explains how to determine the version of DirectX installed on your Windows 11 PC.

DirectX is required by many Windows games for optimal performance. If your PC lacks the appropriate version of DirectX, your game may not function correctly. Checking your version is a simple process.

Here is how to check which version of DirectX is installed:

 

  1. Click on the Start button, typically found at the bottom of the screen, and then type dxdiag in the search box that appears. Click on dxdiag to open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.

2. A new window will pop up for DirectX Diagnostic Tool.

The currently installed version can be found next to "DirectX version"
