If your documents are stuck in the print queue and won’t print or cancel, you may need to manually clear the queue. This guide walks you through how to stop the Print Spooler service and delete pending print jobs.
Using Services and File Explorer
Step 1: Stop the Print Spooler Service

Press
Windows + Rto open the Run dialog box. -
Type
services.mscand press Enter. -
In the Services window, scroll down and find Print Spooler.

Right-click it and select Stop.
Step 2: Clear the Print Queue Files

Press
Windows + Eto open File Explorer. -
Navigate to the following folder:

You may be prompted for permission. Click Continue.

Delete all files in this folder.
🗑️ These are the temporary files for pending print jobs.
Step 3: Start the Print Spooler Service Again

Go back to the Services window (or open it again via
services.msc). -
Right-click Print Spooler.

Select Start.
